Perfect Water Specs for my Pond (What Are They)?
« on: July 23, 2007, 03:04:27 PM »
Hi Everyone,
I'm having a bit of a problem trying to figure out what the perfect water specifications should be for my pond.  o(
I had a major nitrite problem a couple of weeks ago due to my main pump dying.  I have since gotten that back under control.  As a matter of fact I just did a water test and my nitrites were a big fat 0!  @O@  However; my PH is very high 8.2. :o
I think I've read somewhere that using baking soda can bring the ph down.
Can someone help me with a solution to decrease my ph levels?

Thanks
Cindy

Your pH is just fine at 8.2.  What you want is STABLE pH - not perfect pH.  Adding "stuff" to chase pH just leads to problems and an almost inevitable pH crash, which will kill your fish.
