Connection of Liner to preform

I have tried several different solutions of attaching a liner to a preform. I have tried the tapes, glues etc etc and in each case it all begins to leak. I was stupid originally and made some cuts into the preform, then covered with liner and tried to attach the two..unfortunately it has not worked out. I want to re do the whole things with a better filtration system etc etc...but for now all i am interested in is stopping the leaking so I can maintain a water level thats not dropping 2 inches a day. I do not have the time or want to spend any` money on a total redo right now..I just want to hoepfully fix the connection between the two areas..Any help or suggestions would be appreciates.

I used PL brand "roof and flashing" sealant at the advice of others on another board. Fish and plant friendly, dries in 24 hrs. and is black. Both the liner and the preform need to be clean and dry. The PL brand is apparently available at both Lowes and Home depot, I purchased mine from Lowes. So far so good, no leaks and seems to be sticking just fine. There was another brand as well that was recommended, it was "Sika", and available at some marine stores, however living in the desert, I found the marine stores were few and far between! If I remember correctly, the sika adhesive cured under water and in a faster time.

Sikaflex and PL both make a polyurathane caulk. I've read it can cure under water, but I don't think it will stick to something wet. There are also underwater caulks you could check out Westmarine on line.

I would caulk the joint and use something hard like plexiglass or a strip of 5 gallon bucket material to screw through to sandwich your joint. Like the seal on a BD.
