my pond has a hole in it and has had a hole in it every year the past three years. i keep replacing the liner but now i plan on trying to cement it. any  help would be appreciate it . i would like to know how to go about it if anyone can help.

What kind of liner are you using? What is causing the hole? Let's have some construction details. How was your pond built? Did you use underlayment. What part of Alabama are you?

Ive been using the pond liner epdm . I dont know what is causing the hole but i know animals get in it because they knock over my pots and stuff. My pond has shelfs allaway around it and is about 13 feet long including the waterfall and about 8 or 9 feet wide and 2 feet deep. Ive used carpet , sand and newspaper as the underlayment . I have also tried patching the liner and feel that a concreat is the best way to go . I live in Limestone County in Alabama Zone 7a and i dont think it will get so cold as to crack the concreat. I just need help trying to get everything togeather and since the pond is going to have to be drained and all i think im going to take the shelfs out .

I'm no help.  I have concrete that cracked during the last earthquake (stupid planning) and had to cover over the area with the rubber liner.  Works great now.  But I remember when the construction guy, who put it in over 15 years ago, said I couldn't keep fish in it because of the concrete, leeching(sp?). But we did the bottom drain and high sides with an opening for the plumbing and electricity wires.  Concrete highly reinforced and thickness of 4 inches (married an engineer).  Rounded sides like a bowl (wouldn't do that again) with a nice seating ledge.  Originally was going to have water pour out of spouts on wall - bad idea because of height there was too much splashing and the copper spouts (fell off a few years ago) suppose to be bad for fish.  Etc., etc.

Other forums have posted concrete type surfaces.  If no one here has a solution here for you try Koiphen.  I know they have a lot of different approaches by many different people.  Good Luck!  But come back here!
