It is not uncomen for Vista to not go into the sleep mode. My cure seemingly was a new mouse. Yes, makes no sense. However it "wakes up" about 3:00 AM ! What is goimg on?

If you have anti-virus software it could be set to get updates and run scans in the wee hours,,,

Check and see... Be default it will check if updates every day... You can change the settings, but otherwise it will check for them.. (Control Panel ~ Window Updates ~ Change Settings)

good advice. It was set for weekly. It suggested at least monthly. I checked that box.
