"Word" is not working

If I reinstall will I lose existing documents?
I do have an external hard drive.

Windows is trying to find a soloution, but no luck. :'(

Jerry,

You can re-install the only things which will be replaced will be the program files and not the files you created with it.

You "may" be able to choose "repair" when you go to correct your problems. I can not remember if all versions of Office allow you to do that..


I would expect that your files ( your word documents ) are in a folder such as "My Documents" or some other folder.The program files are normally in the Program files folder far away from anything the program would write to. Back ups to important documents are always important, and to be honest I always tell people DVD's or CD's. and then for really important documents and pictures... more then one copy. I have 3 portable drives, each one carries copies of the others. I have seen too many bad things happen.

Thanks Curt. I did uninstall and reinstall, but getting the same message from Windows. "seeking a soloution"
I tried the "repair" too.  I will keep pluggin'

What error are you getting?
Windows version and Office version?

No I mean if you can tell me what the error is your getting or the problem your having, along with the version of windows your using as well as what version of Microsoft office, I can ask the techs at work if they could give any insight on what you should do..

It reads..."Microsoft's version of Word has stopped working. Microsoft is searching for a soloution."
My version was a cd I made from a long gone computer. I think it was bundeled.

"Make it work" did just that, he had to un install many programs first.  The re install at 149.95 per hour >:(-
