Maximum pixel resolution here is 700 pixels in either direction. Anything larger than that will be compressed. It is done for those members with lower resolution screens and dial up access.
We had software installed to tell how people logged on, what operating system and what resolution they used, we found that at least half of our users use older software and lower resolution displays. Large photo's roll off the page on an 800 x 600 resolution screen and anything larger than 50kb - 60kb takes a very long time to load on a dial up connection. We are just trying to make it fair for the users who don't have faster access and better resolution monitors and computers.
Please try to scale down photo's so they are no larger than 700 pixels in either direction (maximum) and try to compress them to somewhere around 50 Kilobytes (kb). A photo that has been scaled down to a maximum width or length of 700 pixels and saved as a jpeg (.jpg) at 80% quality will still be a perfectly clear photo with an average size of 35 kb to 75 kb, a perfect size for all members to enjoy. A great free program to do this is Irfanview. You can download the program at
