Tropical Fish Street
« on: November 14, 2008, 11:29:59 PM »
DH and I treated the kids for a family trip to China for a few weeks.  I can't get over the jet-lag so I found a bunch of trip photos to share with my ponder buddies.

There is a street in Hong Kong called Tropical fish street that is wall to wall pet shops for mostly fish...of all kinds.  I was pretty much amazed at the variety of fish sold, and soooo inexpensive!  Only wished I was able to take more pics but some stores did not allow photography.

Checked out really different varieties of fancies and koi.  Know the names?  Enjoy the photos.

There were also fancies with little pom-poms below the eyes where the "nostrils" are located.  Definitely got chased out of the store for pulling my camera out  :D

Some of the fishies look like they have been so altered that I cannot imagine them surviving outside of a fish tank.  :o

But the size of many fish we saw were way larger than any I have ever seen anywhere.  And I repeat, sooo inexpensive.  About $25US for a 8" round fancy like the ones in the photos above!

For that price here I get something the size of a ping pong ball!

Even though this street is named Tropical Fish Street it did sell all kinds of fish for hobbyists.  Koi was abundant, beautiful, in all sizes and colors, and most of all....very inexpensive!!!  I drooled at the prices of some pretty spectacular koi.  :P
