I am having some string algae like something terrible, if I get some small regular goldfish into my kiddie pool pond will they eat the annoying stuff?

In my experience, they may nibble at it, but it will outpace them. So, no, I don't think they'd do the billy-goat thing and keep it at bay.

I agree with KatFish.
Some ponders use barley straw to control string algae.
