Has anyone used a product called Airborne to prevent ear problems, catching colds, etc when flying?  I have seen dozens of comments about it in blogs but have not been able to locate the product itself.  Anyone know who makes it???

I think that's the stuff that ABC did a huge expose on last winter.  Seems the manufacturer was making claims about how well it worked based on a bogus 'scientific' study.  First, the manufacturer was the one who ordered and paid for the study, then there was the fact that the 'company' who did the study was two guys in some run down house in Florida and finally, nobody could find any evidence that any human being ever participated in the study, let alone that the conclusions were valid.  The company had to change it's packaging after that . . . . ABC had a bunch of doctors and nutritionists questioning if the product could really do anything at all.

Interesting...I didn't know about that ABC thing, but supposedly Airborne was "created" by teachers, and it was not widely known outside those circles at first.

Most people seem to buy it for the hype, and all they say is "it was created by teachers and they say it works great".  So far, I haven't met anyone who actually claims it IS great.  I've tried it, and it really didn't impress me as a remedy.

I've taken Contac for my colds for decades and it always works.

We use it all the time and it has seemed to work. I get sick everytime I fly it seems so I take it for a couple of days before we get on a plane. I also take it as soon as I feel the sniffles start, it usually prevents me from getting a full blown cold.

It's sold in drugstores here, usually found in the cold relief aisle but sometimes found along with the vitamins and such.

Around here it is sold at drug stores and walmart and it is in the cold relief isle also.  My cousin takes it and says it works.

I bought some at Costco the second to last time I flew to Phoenix because I had gotten sick the previous three airplane trips.

Didn't help, I got sick. I got sick the last time too but can't remember if I bothered to take it.

I'm now 5 for 5 on getting sick after plane trips.

Unfortunately, this has ruined some lovely vacations. Please cross your fingers that I don't get sick in October as I head to my 25th high school reunion in Phoenix.
