i am a mechanical idiot and have been struggling with water clarity in my pond ever since we moved in the new house 14 months ago. tons of quilt backing, cleaning biofalls every week, floating things, and green green algae water. no letup, except in winter. i looked around at different possible systems [aquadyne, biotek, and gary's aquabead].
i got the mashimizu alphaone system from gary because of comments about him personally but really because the whole system comes nearly preassembled, and has larger laterals than the aquabead.
after making error after mistake after error, in leaking, tightening, o-ringing, and gasketing, and spending at least 2 hours on the phone, i got it running right at 6 last night. within 12 hours the water had cleared amazingly. i assume it will clear even more later on
i see little ones i bought at allentown, i see the bottom, i see fish at the other end of the pond on the bottom, i am not getting a divorce from spouse, i will not be spending hours a week in futile attempts to clean filters.
for an amateur like me, it is expensive, sure, but the enjoyment that i now can hope to have outweighs the $$.
